Evaluation of Integrated Agricultural Statistics Data Collection using the Area Sample Framework

One important issue in order to realize food sovereignty is food production data. The availability of quality, objective and accurate food statistical data is very much needed as a basis for reference in planning, monitoring and evaluating so that all policies taken by the government are not misplaced so that decision making is more effective and efficient. Taking into account the importance of the accuracy of food crop data, the government, through Bappenas re-established the "Improvement of Agriculture & Fisheries Statistics", one of which was the Data Collection of Integrated Food Plants with the KSA Method (Rice and Corn). KSA Padi is used to improve data on rice harvested area which has produced the latest rice / rice production data. This has received appreciation from various parties because it is considered more able to describe the condition of the main field when it is associated with grain prices at the farm level. Rice production using the KSA method is planned to be released by BPS at least 2 (two) times a year. With the release of national rice / rice production data with the KSA method which is believed to be more accurate, it encourages BPS to improve production data on other strategic commodities, especially corn. To that end, in 2019, BPS will test the implementation of the KSA method for corn commodities. The purpose of KSA Corn data collection is to obtain corn harvest area data through more objective and modern data collection methods by involving the role of technology in it, so that agricultural data collected becomes more accurate and timely. For this reason, BPS re-cooperates with BPPT in the preparation of the Corn area sample system and framework. Considering that the corn field is not as wide as the rice field, the KSA Corn segment measures 100x100 m with 4 observation points. In the 2019 Corn KSA Evaluation event, the Head of Grobogan Regency BPS, Drs. Syafi'i Nur, M.Sc, appealed to all officers to understand the consistency between the phases of growing corn and also the schedule that had been set. The successful implementation of Corn KSA will be largely determined by the intention, determination, and sincerity in carrying out each stage in accordance with the SOPs that have been determined
