Sample Area Framework

BPS-Statistics Indonesia (BPS) teamed up with the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) to conduct an extensive data collection of rice harvest using the latest method. The method is called the Sample Area Framework (KSA) which processes its data using satellite and computer software.

Sample Area Framework (KSA) is an experimental instrument that is one of the efforts in improving food crop statistics data in the form of improved methodology of statistical data collection of food crops representative. The objective of KSA is to estimate the area of rice harvest more accurately by collecting photos of rice plants at various planting phases starting from the land-processing phase to post-harvest processing (one planting season).

Sampling of Sampling Frame Area was first performed in 2017. The location of KSA photo shoots is left entirely to each Regency / City BPS.

One of the obstacles faced when shooting is the weather is less friendly because KSA is done routinely every week with the provisions of taking photos when there is sunlight and there should be no shadows and other objects in the portrait area except the object of rice plants.
